April Photo Challenge, Days 3-11

So, I'm keeping up with my daily photo challenge.  I think Kristy is a bit behind.  :-) At least, I don't have her photos, so I'll post mine for now.  I can't say I'm happy with them all, or very inspired by some of the subjects.  Perhaps I lack creativity.  But, for the sake of honesty, I'm sharing my photos for the challenge.

I just have a simple point and shoot camera, but I'm trying to experiment with the different settings instead of using auto all the time. Thus, sometimes my photos aren't the best. I'm learning.  Hoping someday to learn with a nice SLR camera...Honey, are you reading??  ;-)

Day 3 - Mail

Day 3 - Mail, Mom 2
I pulled out a stack of letters from my husband when he was on a yearlong remote to Korea.  Early in our marriage.  I couldn't resist reading a couple.  ;-)  Sweet!

Day 3 - Mail, Kristy
This is Kristy's mail.  Her magazine subscription.

Day 4 - Someone Who Makes You Happy

Day 4 - Someone who makes you happy, Mom
This could be a photo of so many people, including my husband and older two children.  But, I took some pics of the boys out on the hay by my garden.  They do make me happy!

Day 5 - Tiny

Day 5 - Tiny, Mom
In my garden!  Grow baby, grow!!

Day 6 - Lunch

Day 6 - Lunch, Mom
Left over Veggie Enchilada.
I tried playing with the focus on this photo.

Day 7 - Shadow

Day 7 - Shadow, Mom
Completely arranged, but Nate sweetly obliged in giving me a kiss for this photo.  I love it!

Day 8 - Inside Your Wallet

Day 8 - Inside Wallet, Mom
Had no creative vision.  Boring.  But, it shows that I'm presently a South Carolina transplant due to being a dependent wife of a United States Uniformed Service member.  Temporary transplant....this state is not my home, I'm just passing through. ;-)  ha!

Day 9 - Younger You

Day 9 - Younger You, Mom
Meet Flower, my childhood teddy bear.  It's only appropriate that she be photographed with flowers. I named her flower because she used to wear a pair of flower overalls, until one day....a sad, sad day.  My mean brother refused to give her to me and a fight ensued.  In the process her overalls were ripped.  Flower has been through a lot with me.

Day 10 - Cold

Day 10 - Cold, Mom
I tried playing with the manual focus in this photo.  Nothing impressive, but it gave me some practice.  Obviously, I need more of that. haha!

Day 11 - Where You Ate Breakfast

Day 11 - Where I ate breakfast, Mom
I'd love for this to be a beautiful garden setting, but alas, this is reality.  Up too early with Jacob and tired.  I ate a bowl of fruit while sitting in my recliner, blanket and pillow keeping me comfy.

April Photo Challenge, Day 2

Today's subject: Color.  Since today is World Autism Awareness day, I chose to focus on the color blue.  Which you'll see in my photos below.  But first, I wanted to share this quote from Autism Speaks.

"Today the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) updated its estimate of autism prevalence in the United States to 1 in 88 children (1 in 54 boys and 1 in 252 girls). By comparison, this is more children than are affected by diabetes, AIDS, cancer, cerebral palsy, cystic fibrosis, muscular dystrophy or Down syndrome – combined."
Shocked? I know families with children diagnosed with autistic spectrum disorders and it seems I'm constantly hearing about family or friends of friends who's children are also affected.  Is this considered an epidemic yet? It's heartbreaking, truly heartbreaking.

A friend of mine posted a request on Facebook, asking for people to wear blue today in honor of her son.  I chose to focus my photo of the day color challenge on blue.  Her son and another friend's son, recently diagnosed with asperger's has been on my heart all day.
