Deer Season
Diaper Bag Tote
It is very difficult to make a bag for someone you have never met, but I did. I was invited to a baby shower, for a friend of a friend, who has some pregnancy complications and life complications at the moment. The shower is meant to meet needs of baby items and to encourage. I was attempting to embroider a onesie, which wasn't turning out quite to my liking, so I decided to throw together a diaper bag tote. It's fairly simple, but roomy and has some pockets.
I can't attend the shower, but will throw some baby supplies in the bag and drop it off today. I hope she likes the bag and hope it will be well used.

Preschool Fun!
Sometimes my older kids are not so cheerful about doing their school work! Surprised? haha! No, I didn't think so. But, what they don't realize is that sometimes I'm not so thrilled about it either; fractions, spelling lists, sentence diagramming...ugh! One might think that I wouldn't want to add another child to daily lessons until I absolutely had to, but I love preschool. School time with Nate is fun! It's a great break from the older lessons. He always loves his work and I love seeing him learn. I hope his enthusiasm lasts, but I'm sure someday he'll have grumpy days too. In the meantime, I intend to enjoy and cherish this time. Being a mom is awesome!!
We are also using the I Can books. Nate really, really loves these books. Also purchased from Timberdoodle for $48.95, click the photo for a link. At first, I thought the price was steep and didn't know if I wanted to spend that much for some basic workbooks. But, for me, I'm glad I did. Again, Nate asks for paper work all the time and last year I was spending time finding things online to print for him. Then, I didn't want to use too much ink, so would typically do some boring black and white pages. You certainly can teach these basic skills of coloring, tracing, cutting, pasting, and drawing without these workbooks. But, these are colorful, fun pages, and if you are like me, they were well worth the purchase to save time and I'm not spending money on ink cartridges and printer paper. So, he's happy and mama's happy!!
We are doing other subjects as well. For Bible, we are using Abeka's Primary Bible Reader. For history and science, we are using a variety of books. Currently, we are reading about Christopher Columbus. We also just finished a book on weather, including clouds. I love hearing Nate call the cirrus clouds, "serious" clouds and he likes to point out the cumulus and storm clouds in the sky. Today we started a book on the skeleton. Exploring our bones included some rib tickling and smooshing our noses and folding our ears to feel the difference between bones and cartilage.
Well, it's a school night, so mama needs to go to bed. Hope everyone else's year is off to as wonderful of a start as ours.
How could I not love teaching him? He's so cute!!
With having two older siblings, Nate wants to do school and asks for papers, written work, to do. So, here are some things we are doing this year and he is loving it all.
Purchased from Timberdoodle. Click the photo for the link.

Peanut Butter Pie
What does a grateful gal do when she is taking the kids and going on a weekend trip, leaving the husband home to do remodel work? Other than making sure his laundry is all washed....it's make a Peanut Butter Pie! I've got to leave something sweet behind to take my place! ha!
| I used choc. crust....was looking for an Oreo crust, but they didn't have it today. |
Peanut Butter Pie
1 Graham Cracker Crust
3 oz. cream cheese
1/2 peanut butter
1 cup powder sugar
1 tsp vanilla
8 oz. container cool whip
Beat cream cheese and peanut butter. Gradually add powder sugar and vanilla. On low, mix in cool whip. Pour into crust and refrigerate a few hours. Delish!! So easy!
