Sew Mama Sew Giveaway Day 2010---Enter here for my Giveaway!!

Sew Mama Sew is hosting Giveaway Day 2010 on December 13th.  You can visit their blog on that Monday morning for a list of all participating blogs and shops.  Thank you to Sew Mama Sew for organizing this and to all the other participants.

I am thrilled to announce that I am a participant.  Though I've entered lots of giveaways, this is my first time offering one.  I thought this would be an exciting way to meet new people.  Browse around and if you like my blog, you're welcome to sign up as a follower. I don't have a shop, nor do I sew for profit.  I'm just a gal that likes to sew and I hope you like the handbag I've made just for you.

The pattern is a tutorial I found at Rebeka Lambert's,  Artsy-Crafty Babe.  On her right sidebar, you'll find a list of her tutorials and this is her Phoebe Bag.

A simple handbag, with a magnetic closure on the flap.

Here's one of the inner pockets, trimmed with ribbon.

The pattern did not include this, but I've added a zippered pocket....to me, it's a necessity in a handbag.

To enter, all you have to do is leave a comment on this post telling me what your favorite Christmas tradition is.  That's it!  The giveaway will be open for 5 days, so you have until midnight, eastern time, on Friday, Dec. 17th to enter.  I'll randomly select a winner on Saturday morning.  Please make sure I have your email address, or I have no way to contact you.  Anyone can enter, but if you are not a blogger with an email address available on your profile, then you must leave your email address in your comment.  To avoid getting spam, leave your email in the following format:  emailaddress (at) provider (dot) com.  Make sure you check your junk folder on Saturday in case my email goes there.  Hope you have fun browsing all the giveaways!!

  6. Hi, love your blog! My fave Christmas tradition is probably a bit different, since I'm based down in NZ. ;-) My family and I go for a long walk after Christmas lunch, often along the beach and enjoy the summer sunshine! Makes for a nice, relaxing afternoon.

  9. I love Rebekah's stuff - she's amazingly talented!! My favorite tradition (I never realized we had so many until I thought about it!) my son draws a picture for Santa and that's what we use as our tree topper. When Santa delievers the gifts he takes the picture and replaces it with something -- his hat, a bell, a letter from the Mrs. Something Santa-y. My son loves it. And I get to keep the pictures each year (hidden. Very well hidden. lol) I think in a few years I will frame them and hang them in the house each Christmas. He's in 2nd grade now I hope he keeps believing for a long time!! :) And this year I found a Faith Cake I want to make. I hope it will be a fun surprise for everyone that I can do each year! Because it's the reason for the season!!! Thanks for the giveaway!

We walk the kids around then stop and have hot chocolate and gingerbread. I don't like anyone's gingerbread so far other than theirs so the kids really enjoy sharing the treat with me. Next, it was "The night before Christmas" told from an incident that had happen that year, complete with drawings. Each year it is something new and always a winner.

  25. Very pretty purse! My favorite Christmas tradition is a new one-I'm sewing a new felt ornament for our tree every year. My favorite old tradition is watching the Christmas VHS my mom has and plays nonstop after Thanksgiving. It has Charlie Brown's Christmas special and several odd things, like a Smurf's Christmas and Mickey's Christmas Carol. We usually make cookies while we laugh at the 80's commercials in between each special.

Well, every year, my Mom and I would make chocolate covered pretzels and homemade chex-mix. This year will be different; I lost her to cancer in August. It's going to be so hard. But, I think I will invite someone to make the pretzels with me.

BTW congrats on the 1st time give away I am having my first too. This is fun isn't it?

And Sarah I am so sorry you lost your Mom. I think it is a great thing to invite someone to make the pretzels with you. I am sure your Mom would have encouraged that. Mom's love to see their kids enjoy the things they have passed on to them.

  48. Hi Kelly, your bag is lovely! I think a zipper pocket is a must too! My favourite tradition is something We do with the kids every year. All year long we all save our change in a bucket then at Christmas the kids count it and roll it and I call Children's Aid and ask for the initials and ages of two children who may not be recieving anything or are in serious need of anything, they we take the kids shopping for those two children. They chose what is purchased and it is so inspiring how they address each and every need and a few wants just as though these children were ours! Warms my heart every year! Thanks....

  51. my grandmother left me her recipe for christmas sugar cookies...you know, the kind you decorate with frosting and little edible embellishments? well, the recipe was never "right" and she always tweaked it. she passed away several years ago without ever telling anyone how she tweaked it.

my christmas tradition for years since her passing has been to make the recipe once...only once...each year trying to find her final outcome; tweaking it how i think she did. it's not been completely productive yet...i remember the taste, vividly, and i base my success on that remembrance.

    merry christmas!

I did this for a couple years and didn't think much of it.(They live 2000 miles away.) So, one year I almost didn't do it. My grandchildren were appauled! So, the tradition has continued for many years. Even the 21 year old expects pajamas, whether he receives anything else or not!

We are going to have sports (lacrosse for the youngsters, flag football for most of us, and sudoku for the old-timers), a bonfire, lots of food and the highlight is The Game. We have one of those crazy gift exchanges where you take turns picking a gift or swiping one from someone else. The competition gets heated and strategies abound. My favorite tradition growing up was that my siblings and I could open a single gift on Christmas Eve. We would always open one of the gifts from a sibling. It was always cool seeing what they had thought was a good gift and gave us something to play with before our parents woke up!

  187. Our favorite Christmas tradition here, is to hike up deep in the mountains looking for that "perfect" christmas tree. We bundle the kids up in layers apon layers of clothing. I pack lots of snacks and make thermus's full of hot coco, we eat and drink listening to old time Christmas music, enjoying our trip up into the mountains. After trekking miles thru the snow we find that perfect tree, head back to the truck, strip the kids down to their long johns and head back down the mountain, repeating the process from when we came up. Its always an adventure for us, we've been in blizzards, frigid temps, to, no snow, warm and sunny days. Making memories to hopefully tell our grand children (when that day comes) :0)
