A December Saturday

I really love this time of year.  I enjoy the outdoor beauty during summer, but there is a warmth about winter that is so refreshing.  When else can you have colored lights, aroma from a Christmas tree, gingerbread candles burning, paper snowflakes in the windows, and venison stew?

It's been a beautiful day.  The kids and I tackled some housework this morning.  Then I wrapped some Christmas presents to put under the tree, the kids favorite part of the day.  I did manage to get in some sewing time, my favorite part of the day.  But, I had to stop sooner than planned.  I needed to cook dinner and now I'm exhausted and not thinking I'll make it back to the sewing table this evening.  Being 30 weeks pregnant slows a gal down.  But, I have some pictures to share.  So, here goes...

First, a sneak peak at a sewing project.  Wish I could share the whole thing. It's so much cuter that way, but this will have to do until after Christmas.

Aaahhh, coziness!  Decaf coffee in a snowman mug Kristy gave me last year for Christmas.  The doily was crocheted by my friend Stephanie, who visited from Florida last weekend.  The gingerbread candle smells oh, so wonderful and in the background is a framed piece of Belgian lace. It was given to me by a missionary wife in Germany.

Finally, the picture of my canvas I promised some weeks back. I've had it
for awhile, but hadn't posted it.  Canvas People offered free 8x10
canvases, you just had to pay for shipping.  This was a Christmas
photo I took of the kids a couple years ago.  I love it on the canvas!
I haven't decided where to hang it yet, so it's currently on my mantle.

Nate insisted on me taking a photo of him with the presents.
I insist on sharing the photo and insist that he's so cute!

Here is my wonderful helper.  If I'm cooking, he wants to be with me in the kitchen and he likes to help me with housework, esp. laundry. He also makes great conversation while we work, making my chores so much more enjoyable! And now, that I think of it, this was really my favorite part of the day.

Delish!  Venison Stew!
The deer was shot and processed by my husband.
While I turned it into the perfect dinner for a cold December day!!
If I do say so myself.  :o)

  2. You have a way with words. Your blog makes me feel cozy! We've been enjoying venison stew as well. Well, coco bean hasn't. Remember your little one who "will NOT eat THAT"? and what followed? We had a day like that when I made the stew. UGH! Look at your perfect corners matching up perfectly!!! Can't wait to see what it is.

  3. I feel so lucky, my doily made it onto your special spot. I am missing you so much. Maybe one day we will be closer to each other and can have visits more often.
